Finally (Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw)

It's true that the site is updated the fastest for the tournament that I won, but that's because I'm out of town until Thursday.

Bearded Mike waited for the smallest prize and fewest number of points to finally win a tournament. That included an almost-Baklavian comeback from 3750 in chips with 800/1600 blinds. Lee went out on the bubble after some tough beats that included doubling up Bearded Mike from his short stack.

Pablo took fourth with just about the minimum buy-in (BI + add-on). Blakava's third-place finish was his second cash and catapulted him to first place with 74 points. Hank's sixth-place finish was enough to stay within striking distance with 68 points. Although Big Jim squandered a huge chip lead he maintains third place with 57 points. Given that he referred to The Nuts as a "7-5," it just might be possible that this was his first triple draw tournament.

In the friendliest heads-up match played in Hank's game, Sean started with a big chip deficit and ran an 87 into a Number 2. Second-place points put Sean in the number four spot for the season with 51 total points.

The Play of the Day goes to someone who wasn't there - Ron, who paged Hank, who was on call, at exactly 2pm. I have a picture of a concerned Hank calling in that I'll post later. Great play, Ron!

A3 Sweeps Stud Tourney

The A3 Crew dominating 7-Card Stud this week at Hank's, with Big Jim taking first and Phil McGroin capturing second. The pair battled it out on the same table from start to finish, and also had to deal with Lee and Kelvin at table two. The competition got a little easier when Kelvin made his straight and got ass-hatted by Lee's quads.

Big Jim pounded the table with position and completion bets and refused to call-off chips. Meanwhile Phil managed to not be the bring-in 42% of the time, as he did a week earlier in Razz.





Hank's 8th place finish was enough to maintain a slip one-point lead over Baklava, who finished 6th and caused the most damage to Hank's house (which is really funny - because it was Hank's house, ya feel me?). Big Jim's win vaults him to the number three spot. It would be great to say that "this is what can happen with one win," but actually Jim has cashed in all three tournaments in which he has played.

7 Card Stud - Named after me

Congrats to all that help set the razz attendance record...14 is sick....

We will take this weekend off due to the tourney that most of you are attending (The $50 buy in with your friend that is leaving)

But next tuesday will be 7 card stud at my house - Same structure as Razz....$15 buy in for 2000 in chips - Next tuesday, 1/24/06 at 6pm...6pm, sharp its limit with no rebuys so show up late you are not in...Lee this is your game baby, I want to see you in the next winners photo, actually in 2nd cuz i will be holding 1st...

Baklava was bubble-boy again. Dan made third despite completing queens all night. And Hank tore himself away from backgammon long enough to win. Blah blah, big deal, razz sucks.

Hank has a slight lead on Baklava in the point standings.

From Worst to First - Tim Takes KCL

We had a record field for a lowball event this weekend with 16 entrants for KCL. Tim, Hank, and Sean had a lengthy three-way battle, and Tim and Hank played head-up for over an hour with the blinds frozen at 1000/2000. Tim rode a series of bad beats to a 20th place finish, but this week’s finish put him right back into the point hunt.





Steve busted out on the bubble but collected enough points to maintain his first place standing. Kelvin’s seventh place finish was enough to keep him in second place after being runner up to Steve the previous week. Hank’s second-place finish in KCL puts him in third place for the season.

Tourney 2 - Sunday January 15

The championship pot now has $20 in it...and we will continue to add $1 from all buy ins to this pot and update you every game....

We also learned some things from this tourney...having a league and ranking system makes more people show up which is good.....thus the blinds at 30 minutes are to long so we are going to bring them down depending on the number of people or event...so next event wont be an all nighter!

Now on to more important things....Next game is this Sunday at 2pm....Game will be 2-7 single draw no limit also known as Kansas City Lowball...blinds will only be 30 minutes for first hour and half to allow rebuys but then will be 22 minutes after the rebuy period ends...this game will not be as long...

2000 in chips $10, $5 rebuy, $5 addon...just like last week....RSVP if you are coming so we can get all the tables ready again....2pm at bearded mikes house THIS SUNDAY....Directions will be sent out thurs or friday for those that dont know.....Even if you missed the first come out to this one and get in the action.

Dan raised, T-bone called. The flop came 563, and the fun broke out.


T-Bone had 63 for two-pair, but of course Young Dan had the GPT hand - 74.


The domination of 74 wasn't over, as it later flopped trips in a raised pot on the main table.

Steve (Baklava) Wins Event 1 of Spring Season

Steve came from 400 chips with eight left to place first in a field of 20, our largest yet. Thanks to the gang from the A9 game for helping set a record. Three of five in-the-money finishers were new to our league – congrats guys.

Steve missed most of last season due to football games (linebacker duties I think – I’m not clear on that). With eight left at the final table Kelvin busted him for almost all his chips, and after leaving him with 400 said something to the effect of “I hope it’s not you at the end.” Of course that’s what happened – Steve and Kelvin head-up. They got all in pre-flop with Steve’s A2 holding up against Kelvin’s QT when blanks hit the board.

Gainesville Poker League Begins For 2006

Gainesville Poker Tour is restarting in January 2006 and we are going to change it so that the season runs approximately 6 months (A semester of school for you college kids) and are going to use an equation to determine your rankings…See below for the equation…

For each tournament we have we will set aside $1 buy in per person and put into the championship pot…THE TOP 8 PLAYERS AT THE END OF THE SEASON WILL PLAY in a no-limit dealer’s choice tournament for this prize with the top 3 being awarded cash prizes from the pot that has been accumulated. After every tournament we will update 74offsuit.com and email the results so people know how much money is building in this pot and current rankings. This should make the season much more exciting and rewarding. Chipstack at the final 8 championship game will be 2000 for 8th and 250 more per place of finish meaning 7th 2250, 6th 2500, ....2nd 3500 1st 3750...The dealers choice game will be the 7 no limit games that we play including 1. Holdem, 2. Omaha, 3. Omaha Hi/Lo 4. Kansas City Lowball 5. Ace to Five Triple Draw 6. Deuce to Seven Triple Draw 7. 5 Card Draw.....This is not transferrable only the top 8 finishers may play...

The equation we will use is the following; Everyone that plays will earn points based on their finish. If 12 play first one out gets 1 point, second out gets 2 and so on until the pay out structure. Then bonus points are awarded. So if 3 are paid in a tournament of 12 3rd would get the expected 10 + 2 for the third place pay out, second would get the expected 11 + 4 for 2nd pay out, and first would get the expected 12 + 6.

This point system rewards both people that cash in the tournaments AND people that show up to most of the games because there are points for finishing in any place. The rank list will be updated by adding up all points player earn during the season. At the end of the season the top 8 will be invited to play for the tournament pot that has been collected from the $1’s that were kept. The tournament game will be announced 1 month before it is scheduled to allow people to make it…it will be before all the college grads take off…I will send out the ranks and the total money set aside for the championship after every tourney so everyone is up to date!

That’s it, simple, and should make this season much better then the last…Email me or mike with any questions…We will attempt to play all the different poker games in the spirit of the WSOP including some limit this season like Razz and Stud in addition to our other games…

First season game will be Sunday January 8th at 2pm….Straight no limit holdem with $10 buy in , $5 rebuys for 1 and half hours and $5 add on available…2000 in chips to start....30 minute blinds… Game will be at Bearded Mike’s
