Gainesville Poker League Begins For 2006

Gainesville Poker Tour is restarting in January 2006 and we are going to change it so that the season runs approximately 6 months (A semester of school for you college kids) and are going to use an equation to determine your rankings…See below for the equation…

For each tournament we have we will set aside $1 buy in per person and put into the championship pot…THE TOP 8 PLAYERS AT THE END OF THE SEASON WILL PLAY in a no-limit dealer’s choice tournament for this prize with the top 3 being awarded cash prizes from the pot that has been accumulated. After every tournament we will update 74offsuit.com and email the results so people know how much money is building in this pot and current rankings. This should make the season much more exciting and rewarding. Chipstack at the final 8 championship game will be 2000 for 8th and 250 more per place of finish meaning 7th 2250, 6th 2500, ....2nd 3500 1st 3750...The dealers choice game will be the 7 no limit games that we play including 1. Holdem, 2. Omaha, 3. Omaha Hi/Lo 4. Kansas City Lowball 5. Ace to Five Triple Draw 6. Deuce to Seven Triple Draw 7. 5 Card Draw.....This is not transferrable only the top 8 finishers may play...

The equation we will use is the following; Everyone that plays will earn points based on their finish. If 12 play first one out gets 1 point, second out gets 2 and so on until the pay out structure. Then bonus points are awarded. So if 3 are paid in a tournament of 12 3rd would get the expected 10 + 2 for the third place pay out, second would get the expected 11 + 4 for 2nd pay out, and first would get the expected 12 + 6.

This point system rewards both people that cash in the tournaments AND people that show up to most of the games because there are points for finishing in any place. The rank list will be updated by adding up all points player earn during the season. At the end of the season the top 8 will be invited to play for the tournament pot that has been collected from the $1’s that were kept. The tournament game will be announced 1 month before it is scheduled to allow people to make it…it will be before all the college grads take off…I will send out the ranks and the total money set aside for the championship after every tourney so everyone is up to date!

That’s it, simple, and should make this season much better then the last…Email me or mike with any questions…We will attempt to play all the different poker games in the spirit of the WSOP including some limit this season like Razz and Stud in addition to our other games…

First season game will be Sunday January 8th at 2pm….Straight no limit holdem with $10 buy in , $5 rebuys for 1 and half hours and $5 add on available…2000 in chips to start....30 minute blinds… Game will be at Bearded Mike’s
